Janina... among other things

by - 10:20 PM

I am a wife, first; and a mother, second.

Today, I came home after a two-hour tutoring session in a nearby coffee shop. I was tired and sweltering from the unbearable three to five in the afternoon heat. There was no table available inside where the heat was non-existent, and so my student and I propped ourselves under the ceiling fan outside.

My husband invited me for a photo shoot, the one that I have dreamed of for so long, but never had the budget to do so in a nice studio. I got excited, and put on a little make-up while I still had the fake right eyebrow I drew before I went to work (I lost one eyebrow, postpatrum).

After our sariling sikap photoshoot, I breastfed K to sleep.

Then I found this tagged to me on Facebook:

It's hard to be so many when you're just one person. I have been trying so hard to keep myself sane while being a mother and a wife; to help with our finances with whatever way I can; and to be a friend to other women who needed help with pregnancy, breastfeeding and postpartum.

This is what I get in return, and it is more than enough.

Thank you, Gab, for these beautiful photos and your heartfelt message. I love you and Khale.

    1. A mother is always admirable no matter what path we choose as long as we have our children as priority. :) I'm sure you did a good job even without this advocacy. So cheers to you too!

    1. Thank you! And it's true that that's the best thing. Because they only have us to look up to, and it's best to show them that they're in a very loving home.

  6. Beautiful! Just wondering though, how did you lose an eyebrow? I don't think I have a picture of me breastfeeding any of my 3 kids...

    1. I'm not sure, too. The doctor said it's probably a postpartum effect. You know how women lose hair after giving birth? Mine was an eyebrow. I only have probably less than half an inch left on the right one with no signs of growth. I do not draw on it anymore. People tell me I should fix myself when I go out, but I'm afraid that the chemicals in they make-up will make things worse. So, if you see a woman with only 1 eyebrow, please say hi. That's probably me. :) Na-embrace ko na yung reality.

  13. Sariling sikap photography yan??? Ganda! :) Kawawa naman kayo ng student mo. Right now, the weather is unbelievably humid, so I can only imagine the two of you trying to study lessons in this!
