Do you have a favorite toothpaste?
I do! Mine's Hapee! And it has become my family's favorite, too!
A little back story...
Back when I was a 6th grader, we had our field trip in Lamoiyan Corporation, Rizal's House in Calamba, a candy manufacturing (jellies, actually) factory and Festival Mall Alabang.
Lamoiyan Corporation struck me the most. Of course, we toured and saw their factory and how they packaged it. But what made it special though was meeting their employees. Why? Because they employ the deaf.

One of the employees signed something to me and our guide translated.
She said, "You look like my daughter".
She said, "You look like my daughter".
You know, as a 12-year old, when you're in the middle of innocence and finding out about how the world is, complete with all the ugly parts of it, I didn't really hear much about big companies doing things like these. But Lamoiyan... they even have sign language classes for the hearing to allow them to communicate with each other!
In a world where our PWD friends fight for equal opportunities, Lamoiyan had opened that door for them for years, unbeknownst to many. This is the reason why my heart has so much love and respect for Lamoiyan which is, of course, the manufacturer, of the well-loved household name, Hapee Toothpaste.
From then on, my sister and I have encouraged our family to use Hapee Toothpaste because not only did we support a Filipino brand, but we also supported a company that provided opportunities to PWDs.
Lucky me, Hapee shared our love and sent us a big box of Hapee Kiddie Toothpaste products for my 4-year old to try. The box came with two of all their kiddie toothpaste flavors, an eco-friendly toothbrush and an owl timer (which is such a cutie, btw).
Popy couldn't contain his excitement when he got the package. He loved the box itself, too, and called it his treasure chest!
To be honest, we've been using the white adult toothpaste ever since a tooth erupted, but we only use a smudge of it. Some parents I know avoid using adult toothpastes because of the flouride content but our friend/pedia-dentist explained that flouride intoxication is an issue that's mostly in the US because their water has flouride. Ours don't have, so it's generally safe, but for younger kids, it has to be a smudge instead of the usual pea-size.
It wasn't much of a struggle for us to brush his teeth except maybe when he was still an infant because he was really wiggly and didn't like the taste of the toothpaste. Growing up (just a teeny tiny bit) he would make remarks that it was spicy. His first tooth erupted when he was 7 months old. When he had his 1st birthday, he already had 8! Imagine my fear when his tooth came out early and I was breastfeeding! Kidding! I was able to breastfeed him for 3 years and 4 months.
I know some parents struggle with getting their kids to brush their teeth, and I used to shy away from using kiddie toothpastes because I had the impression that it was all sugary, but not enough flouride which our kids' teeth need.
The recommended flouride in kiddie toothpaste is at least 1000ppm, and Hapee has that, so I'm sure that it's giving Popy's teeth the protection it needs from cavities. I mean, you should see his teeth! We were using Hapee all the way and his biters are beautiful.
And you know what else kids like?
Disney!
It's a good thing that Hapee came up with a Disney Mickey & Friends line of kiddie toothpaste, because really we need a packaging that will call our kid's attention.
Hapee Kiddie toothpastes come in 7 kidciting flavors with Disney characters on the box!
Minnie Mouse for Apple Crunch
Goofy for Juicy Grapes
Donald Duck for Orange Squeeze
Mickey Mouse for Strawberry Bloom
Pluto & Mickey Mouse for Tutti Frutti Twist
...and who doesn't love Frozen? I love Frozen!
Olaf in Bubblegum Pop
Olaf in Cookies and Cream Ahoy (Really? Yes!)
Anna in Orange Squeeze
Elsa & Anna in Strawberry Bloom
Elsa in Tutti Frutti Twist
We've tried the Strawberry Bloom. Yes, we. I tried it, too, because we were running late and I couldn't find my Fresh & Cool White Hapee Toothpaste. Lol. It's one of the good 'ol flavors that you just have to get when you're a kid, apart from orange. Well, those were my favorites as a kid.
But what's the timer for?
Dentists recommend brushing your teeth properly for at least two minutes to remove plaque, but it was found in a research that the average time we spend brushing our teeth is just around 45 seconds. Imagine that!
This cutie owl timer helps make the brushing more fun for the little one. You gotta have a companion sometimes to remind you when to stop. Haha!
Next time you're in the grocery, do get Hapee into your home.
Make brushing time a happy time with the Hapee Kiddie Toothpaste and go for that #NgitingHapee look on your face! 😄
